  • 2013 Debate

    In the Winter of 2013, we hosted a debate on the topic of "Is There life After Death?" with well known speaker Dan Barker

  • T-Shirts

    There are many benefits to being a member of the Windsor / Essex County Atheist Society, and one of them is a discount on t-shirts!

  • March For Myths

    This summer, the Windsor / Essex County Atheist Society counter-marched the annual March for Jesus parade, showing our displeasure at the raising of a Christian flag at City Hall.

  • Blood Drive

    In the spring of 2012, members of the Windsor / Essex County Atheist Society supported a blood drive held at the Red Cross

  • Our Meetings

    Windsor / Essex County Atheist Society regularly hosts social gatherings at the Dominion House

Who are we?

We are a ratified student club at the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada. Please join if you are an atheist, freethinker, secularist, nonbeliever, rationalist, skeptic, antitheist, or humanist who enjoys philosophical discussions.

Our group is affiliated with the Centre for Inquiry (CFI) and the Secular Student Alliance.

What do we do?

We hold monthly meetings, attend conferences, and keep active in our community and on campus.

What is our purpose?

The purpose of our group is to raise awareness in the community about secular issues, educate ourselves and the community about theism and nontheism, engage in philosophical discussions, create a network for nonbelievers, and foster communication with groups of both similar and dissimilar views.

Campus Activism: University of Windsor Convocation Prayer Replaced With Moment of Reflection

Though the University of Windsor has Catholic roots, it is currently registered as a public university. When I completed my undergraduate degree and attended convocation in 2010, the convocation attendees were asked to stand and acknowledge God in the following prayer:

Dan Barker vs. Joe Boot: Is there life after death?

This is a FREE debate (donations welcome) that is open to the public. All are welcome!

When: Thursday March 7, 2013

Time: Doors open at 6:30 PM and the debate begins at 7:00 PM

Where: University of Windsor’s CAW Student Centre in the Ambassador Auditorium

Debate Participants

DAN BARKER, who is co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. He was a Christian preacher and musician for 19 years but is now an atheist. He wrote the book “Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America’s Leading Atheists”

Light the Night Fundraiser Walk

“Light The Night Walk events are evenings filled with inspiration. During this leisurely walk, walkers carry illuminated balloons – white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer – thousands of walkers – men, women and children – form a community of caring, bringing light to the dark world of cancer.”

Shawna can take 4 others in her car. We should leave at 3:30 to get to London on time, have a bite to eat, and get walking! The walk begins at 7:00 PM.

Movie Night Fundraiser

This will be the second movie night hosted by our club. We’ll be watching What Darwin Never Knew

Doors will open at 6:30 and the film will begin at 7:00.

Admission is by donation to Light the Night (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada).

We have currently raised $356.00, can we get to $500 by October 20?

We’ll announce more details on this event as soon as possible.
